Bedroom Addition & Re-Levelling – Head Lake, Ontario

Re-Level and Build

Our client owns a 60+ year-old cottage on Head Lake, with multiple additions made by previous owners. Over time, the original structure’s floor began to dip on one side due to age and the weight of the stone fireplace and chimney.

The first phase of the project involved getting under the cottage to address these structural issues. We added two new support beams with a total of eight new supports and reinforced the only existing beam with two additional supports. This redistributed the weight from the main problem areas, preventing future sagging while also levelling the floor.

The second phase focused on constructing a 12 ft x 16 ft bedroom addition. This work included all framing, tying the new roof structure into the existing roof, and installing exterior plywood, Tyvek, and siding. For the interior, we added insulation, vapour barrier, foam board, plywood, and vinyl flooring. The project was completed with drywall, trim, and several coats of paint, leaving the new space fully finished and ready for use.
